Regular Season Round 12: Thor Thorl - Grindavik 96-85

An interesting game was played in Thorlakshofn where host Thor Thorl (#8) won against one of their biggest challengers Grindavik 96-85 on Friday evening. The game without a history. Thor Thorl led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Tobin Carberry (193-91, college: LIU Post, agency: HMS) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!), 16 rebounds and 4 assists and naturalized Polish Maciej Baginski (195-95) who added 17 points during the contest. Carberry is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Thor Thorl's coach Einar Johannsson allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was the former international guard Olafur Olafsson (194-90) with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds and American-Dominican guard Lewis Clinch (191-87, college: Georgia Tech) scored 13 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Thor Thorl (6-6) moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Grindavik at the other side keeps the fourth position with five games lost. Thor Thorl will meet Keflavik (#6) on the road in the next round. Grindavik will play against Haukar in Hafnarfjordur and hope to secure a win.
