There was an upset when higher ranked Alcobendas (8-6) lost on the road to eleventh ranked Lanzarote (5-7) 87-74 on Saturday. The game without a history. Lanzarote led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Lanzarote outrebounded Alcobendas 36-24 including 22 on the defensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Lanzarote made 7 blocks. Center PA Diene (208-98) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds. American forward Kennedy Eubanks (198-93, college: Texas Arlington) contributed with 15 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Eubanks is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Lanzarote players scored in double figures. Lanzarote's coach Ivan Fernandez used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Point guard Hector Jimenez (183-94) replied with 19 points and Gabriel Gomez (195-95) added 9 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Alcobendas. Newly promoted Lanzarote maintains eleventh position in Group B with 5-7 record, which they share with Guadalajara. Loser Alcobendas dropped to the eighth place with six games lost. Lanzarote will face league's second-placed La Roda on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
