Regular Season Round 30: Puerto Montt - CD Valdivia 86-83

The most exciting game of round 30 in the Liga Nacional took place in Puerto Montt. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of higher ranked Deportivo Valdivia (17-12) to eighth ranked Puerto Montt (14-15) 86-83 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Deportivo Valdivia. American players dominated the game. It was a good game for guard Louis Munks (190-90, college: Prairie View A&M) who led his team to a victory with 29 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Power forward Mike Phillips (201-90, college: Howard) contributed with 19 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Durrell Summers (193-89, college: Michigan St.) replied with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 16 rebounds and Charles Rosenberg (198, college: N.Central Coll.) added 12 points and 5 assists in the effort for Deportivo Valdivia. Four Deportivo Valdivia players scored in double figures. Puerto Montt have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to seventh place. Deportivo Valdivia at the other side dropped to the fifth position with 12 games lost. Puerto Montt are looking forward to face higher ranked AB Ancud (#4) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Deportivo Valdivia will play against the league's second-placed Osorno Basquetbol where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
