Regular Season Round 8: Kanazawa Sam. - Tokyo Cinq R. 88-59

Not a big story in a game in Ishikawa where 5th ranked Tokyo Cinq R. (9-17) was outplayed by second ranked Kanazawa Sam. (19-5) 88-59 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Kanazawa Sam.. Tokyo Cinq R. managed to win fourth quarter 30-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Tokyo Cinq R. to just 7 points in first quarter. Kanazawa Sam. dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Tokyo Cinq R.'s 36. Kanazawa Sam. forced 21 Tokyo Cinq R. turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Andrew Fitzgerald (202-90, college: Oklahoma) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds and American-Panamanian forward Gyno Pomare (203-86, college: San Diego) who added 12 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Four Kanazawa Sam. players scored in double figures. American forward R.J. Slawson (206-92, college: Jacksonville) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds and his fellow American import power forward Eric Anderson (204-93, college: New Haven, agency: Duran International) scored 8 points and 12 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Kanazawa Sam. have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 19-5 record having just two points less than leader Fukuoka Rizing. Tokyo Cinq R. lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with 17 games lost. Kanazawa Sam. will meet at home Toyoda Gosei (#8) in the next round where they are favorite. Tokyo Cinq R. will have a break next round.
