Fifth-ranked Vietnamese Saigon Heat (0-92) gave a tough game to first ranked Taiwanese Kaohsiung (89-5) in Kaohsiung City. Kaohsiung managed to secure only one-point victory 83-82. However their fans expected much easier game. Saigon Heat was ahead by 7 points at the halftime before a 26-16 third quarter run of Kaohsiung. American forward Chris Oliver (201-85, college: Radford) nailed a double-double by scoring 25 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for the winning side and Filipino guard Alejandro Inigo (175) accounted for 18 points and 4 assists. American Lenny Daniel (203-87, college: CS Northridge) came up with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 12 rebounds and the other American import forward Haminn Quaintance (203-85, college: Kent St.) added 19 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Saigon Heat in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Kaohsiung maintains first place with 89-5 record. Saigon Heat at the other side still closes the standings. Kaohsiung will again play against bottom-ranked Saigon Heat (#6) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Saigon Heat will have a break next round.
