Very important is a road loss of third ranked Toros (16-9) against fourth ranked Garzas (14-11) on Saturday night. Visiting Toros were defeated by Garzas in a tough game in Plata Hidalgo 101-105. Garzas forced 21 Toros turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists. Naturalized American guard Martin Samarco (190-85, college: Bowling Green) stepped up and scored 24 points and 5 assists for the winners and American Wayne Chism (206-87, college: Tennessee) chipped in 11 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists. At the losing side American forward Sammy Yeager (193-89, college: CS Fullerton) responded with 31 points and 4 assists and international forward Marco Ramos (198-87, college: Grand Canyon) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Garzas and four Toros players scored in double figures. Garzas have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. Newly promoted Garzas maintains fourth place with 14-11 record. Toros lost third consecutive game. Toros at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keep the third position with nine games lost. Garzas will meet Ciudad (#7) in the next round. Toros will play against the league's leader Fuerza Regia (#1) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
