Regular Season Round 18: Al Arabi - Al Khor 78-54

Bottom-ranked Al Khor (0-8) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 78-54 loss to fourth ranked Al Arabi (5-3) in Doha on Saturday evening. The game was mostly controlled by Al Arabi. Al Khor managed to win second period 19-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Al Arabi dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Al Khor's 24. They outrebounded Al Khor 41-28 including a 26-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. American-Ghanian Adamu Saaka (198-88, college: Furman) scored 35 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Nigerian-American power forward Manny Adako (203-87, college: Northeastern, agency: Court Side) chipped in 9 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. At the losing side American Rickey Young (205-90, college: W.Virginia Tech) responded with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 10 rebounds and his fellow American import point guard Dairese Gary (185-88, college: N.Mexico) scored 9 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Al Arabi moved-up to third place, which they share with Al Rayyan. Loser Al Khor still closes the standings with eight games lost. Al Arabi's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Doha to the arena Al Shamal.
