Regular Season Round 17: Krka - Buducnost 67-75

There was no surprise in Novo Mesto where 12th ranked Slovenian Krka (5-12) was defeated by fourth ranked Montenegrin Buducnost (12-5) 75-67. Krka was ahead by 1 point after three quarters before a 21-12 charge of Buducnost, which allowed them to win the game. 24 personal fouls committed by Krka helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Canadian power forward Owen Klassen (208-91, college: Acadia) nailed a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side and American guard Marcus Williams (191-85, college: Connecticut) accounted for 15 points and 10 assists. Buducnost's coach used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Serbian Marko Lukovic (207-92, agency: BeoBasket) came up with 17 points and 8 rebounds and American guard Ron Curry (191-93, college: JMU, agency: Octagon Europe) added 18 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Krka in the defeat. Four Krka players scored in double figures. Defending Montenegrin champion moved-up to third place, which they share with Cedevita. Krka lost their ninth game in a row. They dropped to the eleventh position with 12 games lost. Buducnost's next round opponent will be Igokea (#6) in Aleksandrovac. Krka will play on the road against the league's leader Crvena Zvezda (#1) in Beograd and hope to win that game.
