There was no surprise in Doha where 9th ranked Al Wakrah (1-7) was defeated by sixth ranked Qatar Sports Club (4-4) 99-88 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 56-42 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Qatar Sports Club made 17-of-19 free shots (89.5 percent) during the game. Qatar Sports Club had a 36-23 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. American point guard James Justice (178-89, college: Martin Methodist) had a double-double by scoring 30 points, 9 rebounds and 11 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import forward Quinton Doggett (206-90, college: Southern) chipped in 28 points and 17 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) during the contest. Four Qatar Sports Club players scored in double figures. At the losing side American guard Larry Blair (183-84, college: Liberty) responded with 30 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists and American-Nigerian forward Olatunbo Ayeni (196-87, college: St.Francis, NY) produced a double-double by scoring 30 points and 11 rebounds. Qatar Sports Club moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Al Ahli. Al Wakrah lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with seven games lost. Qatar Sports Club's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Doha to the arena Al Gharafa.
