Second Stage Round 1: KTU - Mazeikiai 67-74

We should mention about the upset which took place in Kaunas, where KTU (9-18) lost at home to Mazeikiai (10-17) 67-74. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 20-10. But KTU won third quarter 23-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Justinas Olechnavicius (194-94, agency: Court Side) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 6 rebounds. Mantas Serksnas (202-96) contributed with 24 points for the winners. Deividas Poguzinskas (202-95, college: High School) answered with 18 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Arturs Pelss (181-87) added 12 points and 5 assists in the effort for KTU. Mazeikiai will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. KTU will play on the road against Petrochema (#13) in Jonava and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
