The game between fourth ranked Joensuun Kataja (12-6) and 5th ranked Lapuan Korikobrat (11-10) in Joensuu on Friday ended with biggest points difference. Joensuun Kataja outscored guests from Lapua 103-68. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Lapuan Korikobrat. The game without a history. Joensuun Kataja led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Joensuun Kataja dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Lapuan Korikobrat's 34 and made 19-of-21 free shots (90.5 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Lapuan Korikobrat 52-33 including a 41-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. Joensuun Kataja looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Lapuan Korikobrat's players. It was a quality performance for American swingman Jarekious Bradley (196-90, college: SE Missouri St.) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 14 rebounds. Guard Ilari Seppala (188-93) accounted for 17 points and 8 assists for the winning side. Joensuun Kataja's coach Greg Gibson felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Damon Williams (201-73, college: Colorado St.-Pueblo, agency: Two Points) came up with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import forward Dom Morris (201-90, college: Boston U.) added 13 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Lapuan Korikobrat in the defeat. Five Joensuun Kataja and four Lapuan Korikobrat players scored in double figures. Joensuun Kataja moved-up to third place. Loser Lapuan Korikobrat keeps the fifth position with ten games lost. Joensuun Kataja will meet at home Tampereen Pyrinto (#8) in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Lapuan Korikobrat will play against the league's second-placed Salon Vilpas and hope to secure a win.
