Regular Season Round 14: Munkkiniemen - Namika Lr 64-83

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Helsinki where 12th ranked Munkkiniemen (3-11) was outplayed by thirteenth ranked Namika Lr (2-12) 83-64 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Namika Lr. Munkkiniemen was better in third quarter 24-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Namika Lr dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Munkkiniemen's 32. Namika Lr forced 20 Munkkiniemen turnovers. The best player for the winners was American swingman Reginald Bratton (193-86, college: Lenoir-Rhyne, agency: Blacktop Management) who had a double-double by scoring 32 points and 16 rebounds. Guard Teemu Turunen (187-94) chipped in 13 points and 4 assists. Point guard Joonas Timonen (188-0) produced 16 points and 6 rebounds and forward Antti Hammainen (199-97) added 9 points and 11 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Namika Lr maintains thirteenth position in Division with 2-12 record. Newly promoted Munkkiniemen keeps the twelfth place with 11 games lost. Namika Lr will face higher ranked PeU-Basket (#11) in Pernio in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
