Regular Season Round 20: Gipuzkoa GBC - FC Barcelona II 87-81

There was no surprise in San Sebastian where 18th ranked Barca II (2-17) was defeated by third ranked Gipuzkoa (14-6) 87-81. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts were already 11 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 25-20 Barca II's run in the last quarter cut the lead to 87-81 at the end of the game. American power forward Mike Carlson (206-91, college: Truman St., agency: Duran International) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points. The other American import guard Jackson Capel (191-87, college: Evangel) contributed with 15 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Gipuzkoa's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Latvian Rodions Kurucs (206-98) replied with 19 points and 9 rebounds and naturalized Bosnian Nedim Djedovic (205-97, agency: BeoBasket) added 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Barca II. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Gipuzkoa moved-up to second place, which they share with Palencia. Barca II lost eleventh consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 17 games lost. Gipuzkoa's next round opponent will be Ourense (#8) on the road where they are favorite. Barca II will play against Melilla Baloncesto (#9) and hope to win that game.
