Regular Season Round 9: Aisin AW - Otsuka A. 78-74

There was a small surprise when sixth ranked Aisin AW (7-9) won against 4th placed Otsuka A. (11-5) in Aichi 78-74 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 25-15 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Aisin AW forced 20 Otsuka A. turnovers. It was a good game for guard Kyouhei Kumazawa (180-88) who led his team to a victory with 19 points and 6 rebounds. Point guard Kei Kato (172-93) contributed with 14 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. American forward Kyle Richardson (201-91, college: Portland St.) answered with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 12 rebounds and the other American import forward Ray Raymond (203-84, college: Wisconsin) added 16 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Otsuka A.Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Aisin AW maintains sixth place with 7-9 record. Otsuka A. lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth position with five games lost. Aisin AW will face bottom-ranked Tokyo Big Blue (#9) on the road in the next round. Otsuka A. will play against Toyoda Gosei (#8) in Aichi and hope to win that game.
