Date: January 14, 2017
Very expected game when 14th ranked Yalova Bld (5-13) was rolled over on the road by sixth ranked Istanbulspor (12-6) 80-59 on Saturday. Istanbulspor forced 20 Yalova Bld turnovers. The best player for the winners was American Brandon Brown (201-85, college: CS San Bernar.) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. The other American import guard Walter Lemon Jr. (190-92, college: Bradley) chipped in 13 points. Brown is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the other side the best for losing team was American-Jamaican power forward Kyle Hunt (208-89, college: Oklahoma S&A) who recorded 18 points and 7 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and American guard Aubrey Coleman (193-87, college: Houston, agency: HMS) added 11 points and 5 steals respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Newly promoted Istanbulspor maintains sixth position with 12-6 record, which they share with Bursaspor. Yalova Bld at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the fourteenth place with 13 games lost. Istanbulspor will face Pertevniyal (#12) in Istanbul in the next round where they are favorite. Yalova Bld will play at home against Final Genclik and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
