Regular Season Round 15: La Fecha - Gijon 79-61

Everything went according to plan in Arroyo Encomienda where ninth ranked La Fecha (6-6) beat 12th ranked Gijon (3-9) 79-61 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by La Fecha. Gijon was better in fourth quarter 14-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. La Fecha forced 21 Gijon turnovers. It was a great evening for guard Millan Lopez (185-94) who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points. Center Hector Parras (198-89) helped adding 11 points and 6 rebounds. Four La Fecha players scored in double figures. La Fecha's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was forward Diego Sanchez (198-78) with 18 points and 5 rebounds and forward Rodrigo Cid Garcia (196-96) scored 13 points. La Fecha moved-up to eighth place in Group A-B, which they share with Betanzos. Loser Gijon keeps the twelfth position with nine games lost. La Fecha will face higher ranked Naron (#6) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Gijon will play against the league's leader Chantada (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
