Regular Season Round 15: Ponferrada CDP - Betanzos 82-73

Not a big story in a game when 7th ranked Betanzos (6-6) was defeated on the road by fifth ranked Ponferrada CDP (8-4) 82-73 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Betanzos won third quarter 20-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Ponferrada CDP made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for Haitian-American forward James Cambronne (201-91, college: St.Michael's) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds. American guard Sam Prescott (190-90, college: Mt.St.Mary's) helped adding 24 points. Cambronne is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. The best for the losing side was center Marcos Rozas (202-83) with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds and Senegalese Abdou Thiam (-98) scored 16 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ponferrada CDP moved-up to third place in Group A-B, which they share with Estudiantes L. Betanzos lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth position with six games lost. Ponferrada CDP will face BVM 2012 (#7) in Mieres in the next round. Betanzos will play at home against Calidus Gal.COB and hope to win that game.
