Seventeenth-ranked La ICL Manresa (2-14) was very close to win a game against thirteenth ranked CAI Zaragoza (6-10) on Sunday. CAI Zaragoza managed to secure only ten-point victory 87-77. However their fans expected much easier game. The game was mostly controlled by CAI Zaragoza. La ICL Manresa managed to win fourth quarter 29-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where La ICL Manresa used huge pressure winning it 29-19 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 3-13. CAI Zaragoza made 24-of-31 free shots (77.4 percent) during the game. Dutch center Henk Norel (213-87) nailed a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winning side and German forward Robin Benzing (208-89) accounted for 15 points. The former international center Xavier Rey (210-87) came up with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds and forward Pere Tomas (202-89) added 13 points and 5 rebounds respectively for La ICL Manresa in the defeat. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. CAI Zaragoza moved-up to twelfth place. La ICL Manresa lost third consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 14 games lost. CAI Zaragoza will meet at home higher ranked Unicaja Malaga (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. La ICL Manresa will play against Sevilla (#10) and hope to secure a win.
