There was an upset when higher ranked Montecatiniterme (8-7) was defeated at home by eleventh ranked Sangiorgese (7-9) 66-59 on Sunday. Sangiorgese made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. Montecatiniterme was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Simone Tomasini (196-93) who helped to win the game recording 14 points and 5 rebounds and forward Daniele Mario Benzoni (196-80) who added 11 points and 4 assists during the contest. Four Sangiorgese players scored in double figures. At the losing side forward Marco Petrucci (195-92) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Guido Meini (188-79) scored 22 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Sangiorgese maintains eleventh position in B with 7-9 record. Newly promoted Montecatiniterme dropped to the seventh place with seven games lost. Sangiorgese will face league's leader Omegna at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
