Regular Season Round 14: Hapoel J-M - Galil Gilboa 100-75

Date: January 15, 2017
The game with biggest result difference took place in Jerusalem. Local Hapoel Jerusalem (8-6) outscored 11th ranked Galil Gilboa (5-9) 100-75. It looked good early as Galil Gilboa took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Hapoel Jerusalem had a 23-14 second period charge getting the lead and Galil Gilboa was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 75-100. Hapoel Jerusalem made 23-of-30 charity shots (76.7 percent) during the game. 27 personal fouls committed by Galil Gilboa helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The former international guard Bar Timor (190-92) notched 19 points and 7 assists to lead the effort and American power forward Travis Peterson (208-85, college: Samford) supported him with 12 points and 7 rebounds. Five Hapoel Jerusalem players scored in double figures. Hapoel Jerusalem's coach Simone Pianigiani felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 28 points and 7 rebounds by American forward Eric Griffin (203-90, college: Campbell) did not help to save the game for Galil Gilboa. His fellow American import guard Michael Qualls (198-94, college: Arkansas) added 12 points for the guests. Hapoel Jerusalem maintains fourth position with 8-6 record, which they share with Hapoel T-A. Galil Gilboa lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the tenth place with nine games lost. Hapoel Jerusalem's next round opponent will be Ironi Nahariya (#6) on the road. Galil Gilboa will play against Maccabi Haifa (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
