Regular Season Round 14: Stjarnan - Njardvik 72-74

The most exciting game of round 14 in the Dominos League took place in Stjarnan. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of second-ranked Stjarnan (10-4) to tenth ranked Njardvik (6-8) 74-72 on Thursday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the home team. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 74-72. Strangely Stjarnan outrebounded Njardvik 43-31 including 28 on the defensive glass. The former international Logi Gunnarsson (190-81) scored 19 points and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and guard Bjorn Kristjansson (188-92) chipped in 17 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Njardvik's coach Daniel Gudmundsson used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The former international power forward Hlynur Baeringsson (200-82) responded with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 18 rebounds and Nigerian-American guard Anthony Odunsi (193-92, college: Houston Baptist) scored 16 points and 6 rebounds. Njardvik moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Skallagrimur and IR. Stjarnan at the other side keeps the second position with four games lost. They share it with Tindastoll. Njardvik is looking forward to face league's second-placed Tindastoll in Sauoarkrokur in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Stjarnan will play on the road against Keflavik and is hoping to win this game.
