Regular Season Round 28: Garzas - Correcaminos 106-68
Date: January 19, 2017
The game between fifth ranked Garzas (16-12) and 10th ranked Correcaminos (6-22) in Plata Hidalgo on Thursday ended with biggest points difference. Garzas outscored guests from Ciudad Victoria 106-68. The game was mostly controlled by Garzas. Correcaminos managed to win second period 24-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Garzas shot 61.3 percent from the field. They shot the lights out from three sinking 16 long-distance shots on high 59.3 percentage. Garzas looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Correcaminos' players. The winners were led by American Wayne Chism (206-87, college: Tennessee) who scored that evening 20 points and 5 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and naturalized American guard Martin Samarco (190-85, college: Bowling Green) supported him with 13 points and 12 assists. Four Garzas players scored in double figures. Garzas' coach felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds by Canadian forward Grandy Glaze (204, college: Grand Canyon) did not help to save the game for Correcaminos. American swingman L.D. Williams (193-88, college: Wake Forest, agency: Basket Management Solutions) added 20 points for lost side. Garzas moved-up to third place, which they share with Toros and Panteras. Correcaminos lost third consecutive game. They stay dead last with 22 lost games. Garzas will again meet at home bottom-ranked Correcaminos (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Correcaminos will have a break next round.
