Regular Season Round 14: Battipaglia - Broni 64-54

There was a small surprise when eleventh ranked Battipaglia (3-11) defeated at home 9th ranked Broni (4-10) 64-54 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Battipaglia. Broni managed to win third quarter 18-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Battipaglia dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Broni's 28. Battipaglia forced 20 Broni turnovers. The best player for the winners was American swingman Brooque Williams (175-89, college: California, PA, agency: Two Points) who had a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds. Swedish forward Danielle Hamilton-Carter (190-90, college: Georgia Tech) chipped in 16 points and 6 rebounds. The former international guard Francesca Zara (178-76) produced 13 points and 5 rebounds and American-Nigerian Ndidi Madu (188-89, college: Florida, agency: Josep and Nicolas) added 6 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the guests. Battipaglia moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Vigarano. Newly promoted Broni dropped to the eighth position with ten games lost. They share it with Torino. Battipaglia will meet higher ranked San Martino (#4) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Broni will play against Torino (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
