Everything went according to plan when fifth ranked San Severo (12-5) outscored at home 11th ranked Ortona (5-11) 94-57 on Sunday. San Severo dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Ortona's 16. They outrebounded Ortona 39-26 including 28 on the defensive glass. San Severo looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Ortona's players. Forward Iris Ikangi (200-94, agency: Octagon Europe) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds for the winners and guard Leonardo Ciribeni (190-92) chipped in 17 points and 4 assists. San Severo's coach Piero Coen felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Power forward Gianluca Di Carmine (200-86) responded with 12 points and 5 assists and naturalized Argentinian point guard Victorio Gustavo Musso (185-84) scored 14 points. San Severo moved-up to fourth place in B, which they share with Cento. Loser Ortona dropped to the twelfth position with 11 games lost. San Severo will face higher ranked Pescara (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Ortona will play against Giulianova (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
