Regular Season Round 18: Fjolnir - IA 117-80
Date: January 22, 2017
No shocking result in a game when second ranked Fjolnir (13-3) crushed 8th ranked IA (4-12) in Reykjavik 117-80 on Sunday. The game without a history. Fjolnir led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to IA's 44 and made 17-of-18 free shots (94.4 percent) during the game. Fjolnir looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American forward Collin Pryor (200-90, college: Northern St., agency: Mansfield and Associates) notched 25 points and 9 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and swingman Gardar Sveinbjornsson (192-87) supported him with 20 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Four Fjolnir players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 23 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists by American guard Derek Shouse (188-93, college: Mo.-St.Louis) did not help to save the game for IA. Swingman Bjorn Brynjolfsson (192-82) added 18 points and 5 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Fjolnir have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 13-3 record behind leader Hottur. IA lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with 12 games lost. Fjolnir will meet at home league's leader Hottur in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. IA will play against FSU (#6) in Selfoss and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
