Date: January 22, 2017
The game in Zalaegerszeg was also worth to mention about. Third ranked UNI Gyor (10-2) played at the court of 7th ranked ZTE NKK (5-7). UNI Gyor managed to secure a 7-point victory 74-67. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 18-12. But ZTE NKK won second period 20-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. UNI Gyor dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to ZTE NKK's 34. UNI Gyor forced 19 ZTE NKK turnovers. American forward Cyesha Goree (190-93, college: Michigan, agency: Interperformances) notched a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and Belarusian swingman Tatsiana Likhtarovich (180-88) supported her with 16 points and 4 assists. Four UNI Gyor players scored in double figures. Even 26 points and 5 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) by American guard Kirby Burkholder (183-92, college: JMU, agency: Interperformances) did not help to save the game for ZTE NKK. Her fellow American import forward Whitney Bays (188-92, college: Purdue) added 7 points and 5 rebounds for the hosts. UNI Gyor have an impressive six-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. ZTE NKK lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with seven games lost. UNI Gyor will play against Miskolc (#6) at home in the next round.
