Regular Season Round 16: Poitiers - Lille 70-71

Important game to mention about took place in Poitiers. Seventh ranked Lille Metropole (9-7) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging 13th ranked Poitiers (6-10) 71-70 on Tuesday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Naturalized Burkinabe Jean-Victor Traore (204-85) fired a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. American point guard Deonte Burton (183-91, college: Nevada) chipped in 22 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Swingman Sekou Omar Doumbouya (202-0) produced 21 points and 9 rebounds and Senegalese center Youssoupha Fall (221-95) added 12 points and 8 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) respectively for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Lille Metropole moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Poitiers dropped to the fourteenth position with ten games lost. Lille Metropole will face Aix-Maurienne (#13) in Aix-les-Bains in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Poitiers will play on the road against Denain Voltaire and hope to win that game.
