Regular Season Round 17: Haukar - Keflavik 65-68

Seventh-ranked Haukar (5-12) made lots of trouble for first ranked Keflavik (13-4) in Hafnarfjordur on Wednesday. The visitors from Keflavik managed to secure only three-point victory 68-65. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Haukar. The guests trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 68-65. Keflavik forced 22 Haukar turnovers. Strangely Haukar outrebounded Keflavik 50-31 including a 36-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American guard Ariana Moorer (170-91, college: Virginia) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 15 rebounds. International swingman Emelia Osk Gunnarsdottir (174-98) chipped in 23 points and 5 rebounds. Keflavik's coach Sverrir Sverrisson used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American guard Breezy Williams (180, college: N.Carolina St.) produced a double-double by scoring 21 points, 19 rebounds and 5 blocks and point guard Thora Jonsdottir (171-97) added 9 points, 8 rebounds and 11 assists respectively for the hosts. Keflavik maintains first place with 13-4 record, which they share with Skallagrimur. Haukar at the other side keeps the seventh position with 12 games lost. Keflavik is looking forward to face league's second-placed Skallagrimur in Borganes in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Haukar will play on the road against Snaefell (#3) in Stykkisholmur and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
