Regular Season Round 17: Lliria - L Alfas 79-64

There was no surprise when 9th ranked L Alfas (5-9) was defeated on the road by sixth ranked Lliria (7-6) 79-64 on Thursday. The hosts trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 44-26 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Strangely L Alfas outrebounded Lliria 36-23 including 24 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was center Candido Matoso (207-92) who scored 19 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Guard Victor Perez (180-90) chipped in 18 points. Four Lliria players scored in double figures. American Jalen Nesbitt (198, college: N.Florida) produced 17 points and 9 rebounds and power forward Alejandro Rivas (203-98) added 14 points respectively for the guests. L Alfas' coach let to play ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Lliria moved-up to fourth place in Group E. Loser L Alfas keeps the ninth position with nine games lost. Lliria will face Almassera (#10) in Valencia in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. L Alfas will play on the road against Cartagena and hope to win that game.
