Regular Season Round 30: Toros - Abejas 91-84

There was no surprise in Nuevo Laredo where 9th ranked Abejas (9-22) were defeated by fifth ranked Toros (17-13) 91-84. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Abejas won fourth quarter 27-26. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Toros made 29-of-33 charity shots (87.9 percent) during the game. It was a good game for American forward Lorrenzo Wade (201-85, college: San Diego St., agency: DTMones) who led his team to a victory with 31 points. The other American import swingman Rene Rougeau (198-86, college: UNLV) contributed with 13 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Dominican power forward Manuel Guzman (204-82, college: Bemidji St.) replied with 30 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and American forward Steffphon Pettigrew (196-89, college: W.Kentucky, agency: HMS) added 19 points in the effort for Abejas. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Toros moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Garzas. Abejas lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with 22 games lost. Toros will again play against Abejas (#9) in Guanajuato in the next round where they are favorite. Abejas will have a break next round.
