Not a big story in a game when 9th ranked Lourdes-Tarbes (10-10) was defeated at home by fourth ranked Caen (14-6) 85-76 on Friday. The guests trailed by 6 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 85-76. Caen dominated on the defensive end, holding Lourdes-Tarbes to just 6 points in third quarter. Worth to mention a great performance of American-Cape Verdean swingman B.J. Monteiro (196-90, college: Duquesne) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 5 rebounds and naturalized Mali point guard Ludovic Chelle (183-83) who added 14 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Caen's coach Herve Coudray used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. The former international point guard Xane d'Almeida (181-83) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 7 rebounds and 13 assists and naturalized American guard Jourdan Demuynck (198-90, college: Prairie View A&M, agency: HMS) scored 21 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Caen have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with RAC Basket. Loser Lourdes-Tarbes dropped to the eighth position with ten games lost. Caen will face UB Chartres (#8) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Lourdes-Tarbes will play against GET Vosges in Golbey and hope to win that game.
