Very predictable result when fifth ranked Herner TC (8-7) defeated at home bottom-ranked Rotenburg/Scheessel (3-12) 69-55 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Herner TC. Rotenburg/Scheessel managed to win fourth quarter 17-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was American forward Kristi Bellock (185-90, college: Texas A&M) who scored 10 points and 9 rebounds. Her fellow American import point guard Haiden Palmer (173-91, college: Gonzaga) chipped in 14 points and 6 steals. Four Herner TC players scored in double figures. Herner TC's coach Marek Piotrowski used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Ashley Southern (185-93, college: Lipscomb) who recorded 16 points and Finnish forward Evita Iiskola (183-93, college: Providence) added 13 points respectively. Herner TC maintains fifth place with 8-7 record. Rotenburg/Scheessel lost their seventh game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with 12 games lost. Herner TC will meet at home SV Halle Lions (#7) in the next round. Rotenburg/Scheessel will play against TV Saarlouis Royals (#3) and hope to secure a win.
