Regular Season Round 16: Dnipro-2 - Niko-Basket 66-73

Round 16 most important game was a victory of Niko-Basket over 5th ranked Dnipro-2 73-66 on Saturday night. The guests trailed by 7 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 73-66. Niko-Basket dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Dnipro-2's 26. They outrebounded Dnipro-2 50-39 including a 40-28 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Sergiy Vershinin (195-95) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points and 17 rebounds. Swingman Maksym Ozhegov (190-90) contributed with 17 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four Niko-Basket players scored in double figures. Point guard Georgiy Altuhov (180-96) replied with 27 points and 6 assists and guard Yusuf Sanon (190-99) added 11 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Dnipro-2. Niko-Basket have a solid three-game winning streak. Newly promoted Niko-Basket maintains fourth position with 8-10 record. Dnipro-2 lost third consecutive game. Dnipro-2 at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the fifth place with 11 games lost. Niko-Basket are looking forward to face higher ranked Azovmash (#3) in Mariupol in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Dnipro-2 will play at home against SumDU and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
