Regular Season Round 20: Baunach - Chemnitz 48-67

Very predictable result when fourth ranked Chemnitz (14-5) rolled over on the road 13th ranked Baunach (5-14) 67-48 on Saturday. Chemnitz forced 20 Baunach turnovers and outrebounded them 45-24 including a 17-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Baunach's players. American power forward Joe Lawson (201-92, college: Indianapolis, agency: Interperformances) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds. Forward Michael Fleischmann (205-86) contributed with 15 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Lawson is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Chemnitz players scored in double figures. Guard Malik Mueller (190-94, college: Virginia Tech) replied with 15 points and swingman Tibor Taras (197-97) added 11 points in the effort for Baunach. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Chemnitz have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 14-5 record. Loser Baunach dropped to the fourteenth place with 14 games lost. Chemnitz will face Gladiators (#8) in Trier in the next round. Baunach will play at home against White Wings (#5) and hope to win that game.
