Regular Season Round 20: Souffel - Chartres 74-69

Very predictable result when second ranked Souffelweyersheim (15-5) defeated at home 8th ranked UB Chartres (10-10) 74-69 on Saturday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But UB Chartres won third quarter 26-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Souffelweyersheim won last quarter 14-10. Worth to mention a great performance of Valentin Correia (192-93) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and DR Congolese-Belgian power forward Ruphin Kayembe (200-92) who added 15 points and 9 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) during the contest. Point guard Olivier Romain (180-88) responded with 13 points, 6 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals and American forward Jonathan Mitchell (201-87, college: Rutgers, agency: Inception Sports) scored 14 points and 7 rebounds. Five UB Chartres players scored in double figures. Souffelweyersheim keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Quimper. Loser UB Chartres keeps the eighth place with ten games lost. Souffelweyersheim will face SAP Vaucluse (#15) in Sorgues in the next round which should be an easy win for them. UB Chartres will play at home against Caen (#4) and hope to win that game.
