Regular Season Round 17: Olivar - Menorca 71-70

Round 17 in EBA means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Zaragoza where host Olivar (4-10) edged league's leader Menorca (10-4) 71-70 on Saturday evening. Olivar forced 20 Menorca turnovers. The best player for the winners was forward Jaime Pradilla (198-1) who had a double-double by scoring 12 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward Unai Mendicote (196-99) chipped in 14 points and 8 rebounds. Center Jan Orfila (207-84) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 14 rebounds and forward Jesus Vargas (193-94) added 12 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists respectively for the guests. Four Menorca players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Olivar moved-up to twelfth place in Group C-A, which they share with Sant Nicolau. Newly promoted Menorca dropped to the third position with four games lost. They share it with Martorell and Calvia. They were replaced at the leadership position by Chantada. Menorca will play next round against Cornella trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Olivar will try to continue on its current victory against fourteenth ranked Mataro on the road.
