Regular Season Round 15: Kavala - Ethnikos 76-70

We should mention about the upset which took place in Kavala, where higher ranked Ethnikos (8-7) lost to twelfth ranked Kavala (5-9) in a road game 70-76. Kavala outrebounded Ethnikos 41-27 including 30 on the defensive glass. 24 personal fouls committed by Ethnikos helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was an exceptional evening for Polish-American guard Andy Mazurczak (188, college: Wisc.-Parkside, agency: Duran International) who led the winners and scored 19 points and 5 assists. Guard Christoforos Kelaidis (185-95) accounted for 17 points for the winning side. Five Kavala players scored in double figures. Swingman Nikos Kokkalis (198-85) came up with 22 points and power forward Anastasios Antonakis (205-92) added 20 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Ethnikos in the defeat. Ethnikos' coach Vangelis Vlahos rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Kavala maintains twelfth place with 5-9 record. Ethnikos at the other side dropped to the seventh position with seven games lost. Kavala's next round opponent will be higher ranked Aiolos Astakou (#6) at home and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
