Regular Season Round 21: Siauliai - Dzukija 85-64

Bottom-ranked Siauliai managed to get a third victory, breaking the series of nine consecutive losses. This time they outleveled eighth-ranked Dzukija 85-64. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 21-point difference suggests that Siauliai is in a good shape to leave the bottom place. They made 19-of-21 charity shots (90.5 percent) during the game. Strangely Dzukija outrebounded Siauliai 41-29 including 29 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. It was a good game for swingman Lukas Aukstikalnis (196-95) who led his team to a victory with 23 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Forward Donatas Sabeckis (197-92) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 6 rebounds, 10 assists and 5 steals for the winners. Four Siauliai players scored in double figures. Center Karolis Guscikas (205-92, agency: Octagon Europe) answered with 14 points and 9 rebounds and Russian center Anatoly Kashirov (215-87) added 14 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Dzukija. Dzukija's coach Andrej Urlep gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Siauliai maintains tenth place with 3-18 record. Dzukija at the other side keeps the eighth position with 15 games lost. Siauliai will play against higher ranked Vytautas (#6) in Prienai in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Dzukija will play at home against Neptunas and hopes to get back on the winning track.
