Regular Season Round 17: Betanzos - La Fecha 90-66

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both eighth ranked Betanzos and 9th ranked La Fecha had identical 6-7 record. This time Betanzos used a home court advantage and smashed the opponent from Arroyo Encomienda 90-66 on Sunday night. Betanzos shot 32 for 46 from the free-throw line, while La Fecha only scored fifteen points from the stripe. Betanzos forced 24 La Fecha turnovers and outrebounded them 54-21 including a 38-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. La Fecha was plagued by 32 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was center Marcos Rozas (202-83) who had a double-double by scoring 31 points and 19 rebounds (was perfect 12-for-12 from the free throw line !!!). Guard Guillermo Pereiro (191-89) chipped in 14 points and 6 rebounds. Five Betanzos players scored in double figures. Guard Millan Lopez (185-94) produced 14 points and 5 steals and point guard Andres Fernandez (178-89) added 9 points respectively for the guests. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Betanzos maintains eighth place in Group A-B with 7-7 record. Loser La Fecha keeps the ninth position with eight games lost. Betanzos will face league's leader Chantada on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. La Fecha will play against BVM 2012 (#4) and hope to win that game.
