Regular Season Round 20: ViVe - Helmi Basket 79-58

Date: February 1, 2017
No shocking result in a game in Vimpeli where eighth ranked ViVe (8-12) smashed bottom-ranked Helmi Basket (3-16) 79-58 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by ViVe. Helmi Basket was better in fourth quarter 18-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. ViVe dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Helmi Basket's 26. ViVe forced 27 Helmi Basket turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Deven Hunter (190-94, college: Oregon St.) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 15 rebounds. The other American import forward Olivia Nash (185-94, college: Oakland) chipped in 16 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). International center Sofia Rajala (181-98) produced 15 points and 5 rebounds and international guard Lotta-Maj Lahtinen (173-99) added 12 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. ViVe moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Espoo Team. Helmi Basket lost tenth consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom position with 16 games lost. ViVe will have a break next round. Helmi Basket will play at home against Forssan Alku (#3) and hope to win that game.
