Regular Season Round 17: Maccabi Haifa - Hapoel Holon 73-75

Ninth-ranked Maccabi Haifa (7-10) made lots of trouble for second ranked Hapoel Holon (12-5) on Wednesday. The visitors from Holon managed to secure only two-point victory 75-73. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 75-73. Hapoel Holon dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Maccabi Haifa's 30. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was point guard Jordan Taylor (187-89, college: Wisconsin, agency: Pensack Sports) who scored 14 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Forward Darion Atkins (203-92, college: Virginia) chipped in 16 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Point guard John DiBartolomeo (183-91, college: Rochester, agency: Duran International) produced 11 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and swingman William Graves (198-88, college: N.Carolina) added 19 points respectively for the hosts. Maccabi Haifa's coach Ofer Rahimi rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Hapoel Holon have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain second place with 12-5 record behind leader Maccabi T-A. Maccabi Haifa at the other side keeps the ninth position with ten games lost. Hapoel Holon are looking forward to face Maccabi Rishon (#5) in Rishon Le-Zion in the next round. Maccabi Haifa will play on the road against Maccabi Ashdod (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
