Regular Season Round 32: Barreteros - Fuerza Regia 109-100

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Fuerza Regia (29-2) in Zacatecas on Thursday night. Visitors were defeated by seventh ranked Barreteros (13-17) 109-100. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Fuerza Regia. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 31-21. But Fuerza Regia won third quarter 30-27. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely Fuerza Regia outrebounded Barreteros 35-18 including 23 on the defensive glass. They shot the lights out from three sinking 19 long-distance shots on high 52.8 percentage. Barreteros looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Carl Jones (180-91, college: St.Joseph's, agency: DTMones) who helped to win the game recording 34 points (!!!) and 8 assists and the other American import guard Paul Marigney (192-82, college: St.Mary's, CA) who added 29 points and 7 assists during the contest. International forward Juan Anderson (198-93, college: Marquette) responded with 18 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and the former international Hector Hernandez (205-85, college: Fresno St., agency: Pro Sports) scored 19 points and 7 rebounds. Four Barreteros and five Fuerza Regia players scored in double figures. Newly promoted Barreteros maintains seventh position with 13-17 record. Fuerza Regia at the other side still keeps top place with two games lost. Barreteros are looking forward to face higher ranked Ciudad (#6) in Ciudad Juarez in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Fuerza Regia will have a break next round.
