Regular Season Round 32: Soles - Indios 96-85

Not a big story in a game in Mexicali where 6th ranked Ciudad (14-17) was defeated by second ranked Soles (20-12) 96-85. Ciudad was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. Soles made 18-of-23 charity shots (78.3 percent) during the game. Soles outrebounded Ciudad 46-32 including 32 on the defensive glass. The winners were led by naturalized American guard Luke Martinez (193-90, college: Wyoming, agency: Pro Sports) who scored that evening 27 points and 7 rebounds and Venezuelan forward Anthony Perez (206-93, college: Mississippi) supported him with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 10 assists. Even 23 points and 6 rebounds by the former international power forward Arim Solares (202-83) did not help to save the game for Ciudad. American guard Tony Bennett (185-84, college: Bradley) added 18 points and 8 assists for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Soles have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 20-12 record having eight points less than leader Fuerza Regia. Ciudad at the other side keeps the sixth place with 17 games lost. Soles will again play against Ciudad (#6) in Ciudad Juarez in the next round. Ciudad will play on the road against Barreteros in Zacatecas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
