Regular Season Round 19: Valladolid - Alcazar 75-86

Everything could happen in Valladolid at the game between two tied teams. Both seventh ranked Alcazar and 9th ranked Blancos de Rueda had identical 10-8 record. But Blancos de Rueda was not able to use a home court advantage and lost to the opponent from Alcazar 86-75. Strangely Blancos de Rueda outrebounded Alcazar 40-28 including 29 on the defensive glass. It was a very good performance for American guard Lamonte Thomas (187-90, college: J.and Wales, RI) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 6 assists. His fellow American import forward Tyrone Nared (203-88, college: Oregon) contributed with 12 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Alcazar's coach David Varela allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Power forward David Ortega (199-84) answered with 18 points and 9 rebounds and American guard Henri Wade-Chatman (188-92, college: Edinboro) added 22 points in the effort for Blancos de Rueda. Five Alcazar and four Blancos de Rueda players scored in double figures. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Alcazar. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Moron. Blancos de Rueda lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the eighth position with nine games lost. Alcazar's next round opponent will be Gandia (#13) on the road and are hoping to win another game. Blancos de Rueda will play against Moron (#6) in Morón de la Frontera and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
