Regular Season Round 21: Jena - Braunschweig 89-82

Very expected game when 15th ranked Braunschweig (4-16) was defeated on the road by eleventh ranked Science City Jena (8-12) 89-82 on Saturday. Science City Jena made 19-of-22 free shots (86.4 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American point guard Julius Jenkins (187-81, college: Georgia South) stepped up and scored 15 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners and his fellow American import guard Marcos Knight (188-89, college: Middle Tenn.St., agency: BeoBasket) chipped in 18 points. The best for the losing side was American guard Carlton Guyton (193-90, college: Kent St.) with 19 points and 4 assists and Canadian forward Dyshawn Pierre (198-93, college: Dayton) scored 11 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Science City Jena and five Braunschweig players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Science City Jena moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Fraport SKY. Braunschweig lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the sixteenth position with 16 games lost. Science City Jena will meet at home BG Goettingen (#12) in the next round. Braunschweig will play against the league's leader ratiopharm Ulm (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
