Regular Season Round 17: Boulazac - Boulogne 60-61

A very interesting game took place in Boulazac. It ended with only one-point home defeat of higher ranked Boulazac Basket (8-9) to seventeenth ranked SO Maritime Boulogne (6-11) 61-60 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Boulazac Basket. Boulazac Basket was ahead by 6 points at the halftime before a 21-6 third quarter run of SO Maritime Boulogne. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Boulazac Basket to just 6 points in third quarter. The best player for the winners was forward Kevin Mendy (200-92) who had a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. American guard Teddy Gipson (191-80, college: Arkansas, agency: Court Side) chipped in 12 points and 4 steals. Naturalized Central African power forward Maxime Zianveni (198-79) produced 12 points and 6 rebounds and Aurelien Salmon (202-87) added 10 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. SO Maritime Boulogne moved-up to sixteenth place, which they share with Rouen. Boulazac Basket at the other side dropped to the eighth position with nine games lost. SO Maritime Boulogne's next round opponent will be SPO Rouen (#16) on the road.
