Regular Season Round 21: SAP Vaucluse - Souffel 105-102

The most exciting game of round 21 in the NM1 took place in Sorgues. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of second-best Souffelweyersheim (15-6) to fifteenth ranked SAP Vaucluse (9-12) 105-102 on Saturday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. SAP Vaucluse made 25-of-31 free shots (80.6 percent) during the game. 27 personal fouls committed by Souffelweyersheim helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American point guard Deremy Geiger (180-90, college: Idaho, agency: Blacktop Management) who scored 29 points and 8 assists. Mali power forward Cheick Soumaoro (204-90) chipped in 17 points and 9 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was DR Congolese-Belgian power forward Ruphin Kayembe (200-92) who recorded 26 points and 7 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and Valentin Correia (192-93) added 16 points respectively. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. SAP Vaucluse have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Souffelweyersheim at the other side keeps the second position with six games lost. They share it with Caen. SAP Vaucluse is looking forward to face higher ranked Caen (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Souffelweyersheim will play against Saint Vallier and is hoping to win this game.
