Regular Season Round 19: Lich II - Mainz 97-80

There was no surprise when 9th ranked Mainz (7-11) lost on the road to sixth ranked Lich II (11-6) 97-80 on Sunday. Lich II made 24-of-29 free shots (82.8 percent) during the game. It was a very good performance for guard Nils Pompalla (178-85) who helped to win the game recording 15 points and 8 assists. The former international Johannes Lischka (203-87) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Four Lich II players scored in double figures. Indian-American point guard Anish Sharda (188-82, college: St.Mary's, KS) answered with 32 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of his nine free throws !!!) and Johann Fritzen (201-95) added 16 points in the effort for Mainz. Lich II moved-up to fourth place in South-West. Loser Mainz keeps the ninth position with 11 games lost. Lich II will face Fellbach (#8) on the road in the next round. Mainz will play against Speyer and hope to win that game.
