Everything could happen in Helsinki at the game between two tied teams. Both twelfth ranked Munkkiniemen and 11th ranked JyWe had identical 4-13 record. This time Munkkiniemen used a home court advantage and outplayed the opponent from Jyvaskyla 95-68 on Sunday night. The game was mostly controlled by Munkkiniemen. JyWe was better in fourth quarter 22-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Munkkiniemen forced 23 JyWe turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was guard Pyry Marttinen (184-99) who scored 19 points, 5 assists and 5 steals. Guard Miika Heinonen (193-99) chipped in 19 points. Four Munkkiniemen players scored in double figures. Guard Jussi Salo (185-92) produced 14 points and Russian power forward Alexei Ekimov (210-81) added 9 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Munkkiniemen (5-13) moved-up to eleventh place in Division. JyWe at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the twelfth position with 14 games lost. Munkkiniemen will face higher ranked Ura Basket (#3) in Kaarina in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. JyWe will play on the road against Namika Lr (#13) in Lappeenranta and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
