The game between closely ranked teams ended with 5th ranked Malaysian KL Dragons' (2-7) road loss to fourth ranked Taiwanese Kaohsiung (4-7) 86-94 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 9 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 8 points. Kaohsiung dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to KL Dragons' 36. The best player for the winners was American forward Chris Oliver (201-85, college: Radford) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists. American-Hungarian power forward Derek Hall (211-90, college: Albright) chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points, 17 rebounds and 5 assists. American guard Joshua Munzon (191-95, college: CS Los Angeles) produced 27 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists and his fellow American import forward Marcus Melvin (206-82, college: N.Carolina St.) added 22 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. KL Dragons' coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Kaohsiung maintains fourth position with 4-7 record. Loser KL Dragons dropped to the bottom place with seven games lost. Kaohsiung will meet Saigon Heat (#5) on the road in the next round. KL Dragons will play against the league's second-placed Hong Kong ELL and hope to secure a win.
